After watching Skins 3 times I wanted to ask you if you know any similar shows like Skins. Degrassi has the growing up part. It’s not a party show though, and it’s quite cheesy. Sex Education, Euphoria, the OC, 90210, and One Tree Hill might be up your ally. Degrassi was more of the blueprint.I think skins got too American during seasons 5 and 6. I think it really needs to be looked at in isolation from gen 1+2. It did become a different show in some ways, like you say possibly more Americanised. It took me more than one watch to appreciate gen 3, but there are some really great storylines in there.
