I made my base not far from the Jhil (the mutant raven creatures) along Scartalon Ridgeline. It's just up the cliff from Freya's Hovel, eastern side of the map. There's a wide part of the ridgeline that has tons of iron, highland berries and easy access to coal and wood.Your location is fine. On another server, I maintain a base just north of the Hand of the Maker two grid squares west of your base location. Lots of other players don't like that location because it's not flat but I really made it work nicely and the base has grown quite massive with two huge towers.There's a lot of really good PvE options. None of them are the best in all circumstances. I'd say the only ones to avoid would be spear, one hand mace, and the new greataxe. Everything else has strong use cases. I had a couple decent berserkers and dalinsia but all of them have such shitty damage multipliers. Getting steel is pretty basic. You should have to explore every single region of the map from top to bottom before you can first get steel.
