You can actually research this three times for each type, stacking up to +60% to reach of Physics, Society, and Engineering tech. The first time is very inexpensive and quite worthwhile, the second time gets a bit pricey but is still a decent pick, the third time is very expensive and isn't a high priority.So This Guide is built around those assumptions. Generally you can offset the penalties via more planets but it's harder with habitats due to accumulating empire size. Replace commerce building with research lab. Build city districts to get more slots for more research labs.
